As part of Annual Enrollment this year, we shared that SurgeryPlus would be the exclusive network for all nonemergency joint and spine surgeries in 2024 in the Core, Standard, Plus and High Cost Coverage medical options. After careful review, there will be no changes to the SurgeryPlus benefit in 2024. This means you do not have to arrange joint or spine surgeries through SurgeryPlus and such surgeries will be covered at in-network rates if performed within the BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) or UMR networks.*
SurgeryPlus will remain the only in-network option for bariatric surgeries under the Core, Standard, Plus and High Cost Coverage medical options in 2024, as it is now in 2023.
In light of this change, we’ve extended the deadline for enrolling in 2024 benefits. You now have until 11:59 p.m. CT Nov. 10 to make or change your benefit choices in the Benefits Service Center. Please take time to carefully review your 2024 benefit choices to ensure you have the coverage you and your family need going into next year.
*Remember that preauthorization with BCBS and UMR is generally required before any nonemergency surgery.
